Welcome to Workshop on Assistive Vision
Recent vision technologies have been targeted at the physical and cognitively impaired, while a number of methodologies also seek to improve the day-to-day lives of healthy individuals. Examples include assisting the blind in navigating through an environment, instructing and guiding Alzheimer's patients in cooking, eating, etc., and motivating healthy individuals to exercise via serious gaming, and monitoring their postures and actions.
Rapid progress in the inter-disciplinary field of Assistive Vision has become possible due to breakthroughs in computer vision methods aimed at understanding human perception and behaviour (face and gait analysis, tracking, recognizing facial and body movements), and human-computer interaction. Nevertheless, many open problems still exist with respect to the realization of these technologies in uncontrolled environments, effective user interaction and timely intervention, and social aspects.
The Workshop on Assistive Vision aims to bring researchers from the diverse fields of engineering, computer science, cognitive science, human-computer interaction, social and biomedical science to discuss current issues, and lay down the standards for the next generation of Assistive Technologies.Besides technologies, emphasis will also be placed on precise problem definition, benchmark datasets, evaluation protocols and procedures for Assistive Vision. We solicit papers in, but not limited to, the following TOPICS:
