Bipasha Sen IIIT Hyderabad Alumna Leaves MIT PhD to Launch Robotics Startup
Bipasha Sen, an alumna of IIIT Hyderabad, has made a significant career shift by leaving her PhD program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to pursue her passion for robotics entrepreneurship. Sen, who was a first-year PhD student at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), decided to embark on her entrepreneurial journey to develop innovative robotics solutions.
Prior to her time at MIT, Sen completed her MS by Research in Computer Science at IIIT Hyderabad, where she worked under the guidance of Professors C.V. Jawahar and Vinay Namboodiri. During her tenure at IIIT Hyderabad, she co-led Team Lumos, which secured third place at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2022 . Her research interests include robotic perception and manipulation, with a focus on developing scalable data collection methods for training robots to perform everyday tasks.
Sen's decision to leave academia and enter the startup world reflects her commitment to making robotics more accessible and practical for daily life.
