BharatGen - Multilingual AI of an e-commerce tool for Indian languages

 The government's efforts to develop GenAI for India have advanced with the official launch of BharatGen, an Indian alternative to platforms such as ChatGPT and Gemini.

BharatGen is the first AI government sponsored project of India that works with various forms of technology. They introduced e-vikrAI, a new product that employs Vision Language Model technology for Indian e-commerce product images. e-vikrAI automates listing by sellers without human interference. Sellers can upload an image of the product and get autogenerated titles, descriptions, features, and price suggestions with Indian cultural nuances.

 On February 5, 2025, at 5:30 pm, a memorial meeting was held in the KRB Auditorium at IIIT-Hyderabad to honor and remember the life of BV Khadiravana, a CVIT student who passed away unexpectedly. The memorial service was a deeply emotional and meaningful moment for the entire community. His presence, kindness, and bright spirit touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. Faculty, staff, friends, and fellow students came together to celebrate BV Khadiravana’s life, sharing stories and reflecting on their profound impact during their time here.

Avijit Dasgupta attended CVPR 2024 in Seattle, marking his first time at the prestigious CVPR conference but not his first international conference. The conference, attended by around 12,000 people, was a great opportunity for him to meet prominent researchers and learn the latest developments in computer vision, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), augmented, virtual and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR), deep learning, and related areas from academic, applied, and business R&D perspectives.
