RSIE 2026

The summit brought together leading academic and industry researchers from the global egocentric research community to discuss emerging challenges, recent advances, and new opportunities enabled by Project Aria resources.

Prof. Jawahar delivered a talk highlighting the group’s research efforts in Egocentric Intelligence, while Shankar Gangisetty and Ajoy Mondal presented a research poster titled “Egocentric AI for Human Understanding, Safety, and Assistance.”

The presentation showcased a collection of research from CVIT and IHub-Data covering rider behaviour understanding, driving safety assessment, document reading, activity reasoning, and assistive AI. The work demonstrated how egocentric vision, multimodal learning, wearable sensing, and foundation models can be combined to understand people and their surroundings from the wearer’s perspective.

The event also provided an opportunity to interact with researchers from leading universities, technology companies, and research institutions working on egocentric perception and wearable AI. These discussions opened avenues for collaboration and for exploring the use of Project Aria resources in future research. The summit was part of Meta’s broader effort to foster collaboration across a global network of universities advancing augmented reality and egocentric research.

The participation highlights IIIT Hyderabad’s growing contributions to egocentric intelligence, multimodal AI, and wearable computing and strengthens its engagement with the international research community working toward human-centric intelligent systems.
