A total of seventeen students were selected and briefed on how to be better prepared to meet the challenges during their term tenure at CVIT. Taking them through, a high-level overview into state-of-the-art in terms of image processing, deep learning, how to connect to the computing resources, etc. The idea behind the orientation program is to acclimate the students with a cursory understanding of what is trending in terms of research and prepare them for what lies in the future. At the end of the second year, UGDD and Honours students can apply for a center of their preference, they must also indicate what kind of research interests they have. Our panel of faculty at CVIT will screen their preferences and assign students to faculty accordingly. Then in CVIT we have a panel of faculty who screen their preferences and assign students to faculty accordingly. Students, along with faculty and staff, took an important role in orientation. Selecting a specific number of Senior students to interact with the new students helped them develop their interest further in joining CVIT. Our knowledge sessions in the morning were followed by interesting lab sessions in the afternoon. Mostly, the faculty conducted the lecture sessions and the Senior students would conduct hands-on lab sessions to further their understanding. The student volunteers would often share their materials in advance giving the participants the opportunity to prepare and had productive interactions with the volunteers.
