Overview
We organize a challenge on Indic handwritten text recognition tasks in ten different scripts such as Bengali, Devanagari, Gujarati, Gurumukhi, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The goal of this challenge is to motivate the researchers to develop/design new algorithms for any specific/all mentioned scripts. We believe this challenge suggests a significant new direction for the community to recognize Indic handwritten text. A key outcome of this challenge is to enable continual in Indic handwritten text recognition tasks. For the competition, training and validation sets (containing word images with ground truths) are released in advance of the challenge. The registered participants/teams develop a recognizer for specific/all scripts using training and validation sets and evaluate on the test set (provide only word images without ground truths). The team uploads the obtained results (in a specific format) in the leaderboard available in the competition website. The leaderboard displays team name/id and accuracy (e.g., Word Recognition Rate and Character Recognition Rate) in an order. The organization will distribute prize(s) and certificate(s) to the winner team(s) and runner up of the competition.
