Along with my advisor Professor Ravi Kiran, I travelled to PACIFICO Yokohama, Japan to do an oral and poster presentation on my paper “IDD-X: A Multi-View Dataset for Egorelative Important Object Localization and Explanation in Dense and Unstructured Traffic” at the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA 2024). Although it was my first international conference, having Prof. Ravi by my side while different research topics and presentations were rendered helped me acquire more knowledge than what a solo travel experience would offer. He mentioned important points to observe and take note of, which helped me to understand how to make the research impactful and convey complex ideas in a short and presentable way. I made acquaintances and shared contact details for future collaborations during the poster session. Meeting researchers at a global level helped me learn about similar projects and how research was conducted in various labs. I had a fruitful discussion with a professor from China whose domain is similar to my current work and felt content to meet a researcher from Austria who was continuing my previous work at the conference. The overall experience was very beneficial, and I am looking forward to staying connected with the new contacts.

It was my first international conference attending the 35th IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV 2024) at Jeju Island, Korea. Doing a poster and oral presentation on my paper ‘Enhancing Road Safety: Predictive Modeling of Accident-Prone Zones with ADAS Equipped Vehicle Fleet Data”, was a unique experience. I gained a deeper understanding of the advancements happening in the Autonomous driving area by attending the presentations and interacting with researchers and academicians. Exposure to various poster sessions has also provided me with new ideas for my current project. I met a professor from the University of Washington presenting a similar work as mine. We had an engaging discussion about the methodology with her, offering profound and significant insights.
